BENEFITING: DISCOVERY CENTER OF THE SOUTHERN TIER
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
The Angie Traverse Memorial Fund was created in 2008 by my husband, Ben Traverse and his family, in honor of his mother, Angie Traverse. The Fund provides a one-time scholarship of $2,000 to any college-bound student at a Broome County, NY high school.
On March 25, 2005, after a long and courageous battle, lung cancer took Angie's life. Although I never had the honor of knowing Angie, it was immediately obvious to me after meeting the Traverse family and their friends, that Angie was a wonderful mother, wife, and a great friend to many. Her creativity, courage, and caring nature strongly touched the lives of nearly all who crossed her path.
With the support of the Discovery Center, a children’s museum in Binghamton, NY, the Traverse family has been able to fund over $20,000 in college scholarships, and thousands more to the Discovery Center and lung cancer research. I would like to continue the celebration of her memory during my upcoming race by raising money for the Angie Traverse Memorial Fund.
