Help the animals that nobody wanted
Organized by: Donna Heath
Over the last two years, God has put ten dogs and three cats in my path. All of these animals were abandoned and came to me from dire circumstances.
I found one dog running up the middle of a highway into oncoming traffic. She had been tied out on a chain for so long that the chain grew into the skin on her neck and had to be surgically removed. You can't speak to her without her dropping to the ground, shaking and peeing. She had to have emergency surgery for a pancreatic tumor. She is the best friend I have ever had, and she will spend the rest of her life in comfort being loved.
I found one of the other dogs also running on a busy highway. She is a pitbull who was being used as a bait dog. As I was trying to catch her, I watched her get hit by a truck. It was one of the most awful things I have ever witnessed. I took her to emergency surgery. Her leg was reconstructed and I spent 6 months cleaning her wounds and teaching her how to walk again. The vet who operated on her said she was 1 - 2 days away from starving to death.
I found one of the cats as a newborn kitten. He is blind and he was walking up the middle of the street on a night when it was snowing and so cold that his paws were sticking to the pavement as he tried to walk. He was crying uncontrollably for his mother who was nowhere to be found.
All of the animals under my care have similar stories. Each came from extreme circumstances and needed help. One has Cushings disease, one has Addisons disease, one has GME, one has dialated cardiomyopia, four had severe injuries from being hit by a vehicle, most were starving, and all needed someone to take them. I did and they will live out the rest of their days in a home where they are well cared for an loved.
I have taken out a second mortgage on my home to fund the care of these animals and I need help to get my head back above water. Anything you can give will be appreciated from the bottom of my heart.
