BENEFITING: Connecting To Cure Crohn's And Colitis
Hi, my name is Ani Rosen and I'm currently a junior at Windward High School in Los Angeles and a competitive dancer. Though I experience life like any other 17 year old, my experience with Crohn’s Disease has shaped me into the person I am today. Only diagnosed about two years ago, I was suddenly thrown into a tough world that I did not understand. I didn't know that medicine infusions, blood draws, lab tests, pill camera studies, and colonoscopies would suddenly become part of my lifestyle.
At the beginning of my 9th grade year, while most kids might have been nervous about their transition into high school and the wondrous opportunities that lie ahead of them, my symptoms became unbearable. My life paused and I spent a long 3 months alone in bed, not able to get up or move forward with the things that were most important to me including school, dance and my friends. Thanks to my incredible family, friends, doctors, teachers, and more, I was able to get support and love that lifted me up in the time of need.
Looking back almost a year later, I realize I ultimately had the confidence to go back to dance and complete the year with multiple wins at nationals with my team. I was also able to end my freshman year with a 4.08 GPA even though I missed a significant amount of school. I’m sharing this not to flaunt what I’ve accomplished, but to show that anyone can lift his or her life back up even in the hardest times if they have a strong support system filled with love and care. Through this experience, I realized that having this disease will not stop me from anything I want to pursue in life and should not stop anyone.
If you would like to participate in donating, 100% of all donations will be sent directly to the “Connecting to Cure Crohn’s & Colitis” organization, founded by Stacy Dylan and Dana Zatulove, specifically to raise money for research, advance our medicines and hopefully find a cure for this hurtful disease. This organization is a 501c3 non profit, and all donations are tax deductible. Because I received support from my community, I really want to give back and help everyone struggling with this disease. Thank you for listening to my story and I truly appreciate any donation to support Crohn's Disease!
