Dear Family and Friends:
On October 16, 2015, I am going to rappel 14-stories down the side of State House Square in Harford to support the local fight against breast cancer. My friend, Heide Grise, herself a breast cancer survivor, has been so enthusiastic about this event, that she has convinced me to participate. I have committed to raising $1000, and hope that you will consider supporting me in this adventure!
For those of us who have family members or friends ( in my case, Aunt Mary, Sister-in-Law Elaine, and cousin Nicole) who have battled this disease, you know how important it is that we finally find a cure for breast cancer. Rappel for the Cure, a partnership with Over the Edge, is Komen Connecticut’s newest FUNdraising event. It is geared toward the fearless or those looking to overcome their fears.
Did you know that Connecticut has the HIGHEST incidence of breast cancer in the U.S. and more than 3,000 women will be diagnosed here each year with breast cancer? It's a startling statistic.
Seventy-five percent of the funds we raise remain in Connecticut, and are invested in local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs across the state. The remaining 25% is invested in research to find the causes and cures for breast cancer. None of these funds support Komen National.
I would appreciate any support that you can give me as I travel Over the Edge!
