The Ghana program of Engineers Without Borders - USA Columbia has become a sort of family for me over the last three years. I joined immediately as a freshman engineer, and have since been involved in everything from grant writing to report editing to sanitation research. In August 2011 me and a handful of my fellow Ghana Program teammates traveled to Obodan, Ghana, to oversee and help with the construction of 6 source-separated latrines. It was an experience that drastically altered my perspective on international development, engineering, and working across cultures, and reignited my passion for my future career to be one that uses my education and training to better our world in some way, big or small.
Now our program is focusing on a water distribution project. We are aiming to implement the water system this summer; however, to do so we need to raise several thousand more dollars. To find out more about our project, visit our fundraising page:
You can also donate at the link below. Donations will help us build a water distribution system so that the Obodan community can finally have easy access to clean water, which is a fundamental human right. Thank you!
