Pursuit is a capital campaign with a two-tiered mission: first, to raise $11MM for The Center and second, to advance the interest of all individuals with disABILITIES across the country. Across the United States, there are currently 10 million individuals that have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Pursuit’s mission is to bring awareness to this underserved population by bicycling across the United States this summer.
Beginning on June 6, 2016, David Baldwin, longtime Center Board Member, will depart from Astoria, Oregon and will ride 3,500 miles, reaching Rehoboth Beach, Maryland on August 3. David will be accompanied by a small support crew. Along the route, the Pursuit Team will visit leading organizations, universities and research facilities to garner best practices in serving individuals with disABILITIES.
By joining a ride-along or supporting an individual who will ride in a Pursuit ride-along, you are helping Pursuit reach the mission of raising $11MM for The Center and spreading awarness for individuals with disABILITIES. If you participate, you will be responsible for raising or paying the "Trek Rider Fee" (which is specified for each ride). Raising an additional "goal amount" of $3,000 or more is not a requirement; we only as that you make a reasonable effort to help us raise funds above the costs for each ride.
