On September 26, 2009 this world lost an amazing person. She was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a friend. She could have been an amazing mother herself. She was supposed to be my forever friend. On that day she was taken away from us by her boyfriend. I didn't know all the warning signs. I thought something was wrong, but she wouldn't admit it. Everything happened so quickly. I didn't know what to do or how to do it. If only I knew about all the wonderful resources and services that this agency offered. If I only knew there was help out there. I have been a volunteer at Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pa for almost a year now. I have learned so much from everyone at the agency. I have learned how to talk to victims and their families. I am now armed with the knowledge of what to say and how to say it. There is help out there, but they cannot do it alone. They need the help others through donations to continue serving victims of domestic violence and their families with the many free services they offer. Don't let someone else's story end in a tragedy like Annie's did.
