PLEASE HELP BREAK THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE!
Anna Bixby Women's Center (ABWC) provides comprehensive supportive services to women and their children who are, or have been, victims of, or threatened with, domestic violence or abuse, whether physical, sexual, or emotional and homelessness in the rural and remote rural Southern Illinois counties of Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Johnson, Pope, Saline and White.
Did you know that...
A woman is beaten every 15 seconds
1 out of 4 women YOU know has been a victim of physical and/or sexual abuse
Financial abuse is one form of domestic abuse that further isolates victims
Rural areas are vastly different culturally, mentally, economically and scholastically than larger metropolitan and suburban areas.
Children who are witness to or victims of abuse are more likely to continue the pattern either as an abuser or a victim
ABWC is a one-stop victim’s service provider and is the only domestic violence service provider in our seven counties. We offer comprehensive supportive services including: 24-hour crisis response, emergency off-site safe home, safety planning, individual and group counseling for adults and children, legal, order of protection follow-up, medical, and other systems advocacy, transitional housing, economic, education, employmentassistance, homeless supportive services, emergency short-term housing, food pantry, community technology classes, children’s programming and enhanced child services, batterer’s intervention classes, prevention and outreach.
All programs encourage and support victims in their efforts to regain control over their lives, decrease their exposure to violence and empower victims.
