BENEFITING: AFGHANS FOR CIVIL SOCIETY INC
EVENT DATE: Feb 28, 2015
Help us raise funds for Anna’s Afghan Education Center by donating now or by making a donation in someones name to truly give back for the holidays. The Center helps over 220 street working children and 70 highly vulnerable women in Kabul. The Center is one of the few non-profits that is able to use 100% of the money it raises directly for the operation of the school. There are no non-profit salaries, billeting or travel expenses paid. This is possible because the founder pays her own way when visiting the school, and only employs Afghan teachers, social workers and other staff. Last year she paid the staff members salaries out of pocket but is unable to do so again. This school is a bright spot in the lives of every woman and child that attends. Please help us keep this amazing sanctuary afloat! Please visit http://www.anna-awec-af.org/ or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also see the school in action on youtube at http://youtu.be/1lmXflgafrI and http://youtu.be/lo9mYZmnUAA.
For more information on Anna’s Afghan Education Center, please read below:
Afghanistan is a country that has been ravaged by war for well over three decades. Generations of Afghans have suffered and lived courageously through these turbulent times and today they strive to establish peace, stability and prosperity. Education is the key to their success in the future; it is the only way the Afghan people can succeed. Please help us give some of the most underprivileged and impoverished people in Afghanistan the basic essentials of education so that they may prosper. Anna's Afghan Education Center serves street-working children and vulnerable women in Kabul. The school provides more than 70 widowed women with literacy and vocational skills training as well as child care while mothers are in class. Additionally, Anna’s school educates over 220 boys and girls, preparing them to enter the government school system. Students receive an enhanced curriculum that includes English and computing lessons. In contrast to government schools, the education center provides students with books and supplies which they otherwise would not be able to afford. The school provides other essentials these impoverished students would not receive such as warm balanced meals, backpacks and weekly access to a doctor. Donors to Anna’s Education Center have also sponsored former students, sending them to university in Kabul. Unfortunately, the school has limited funds and needs money for school books, food and supplies.
Please join us in supporting Anna's school, by making a donation now or by leveraging our collective reach and creating your own family, personal or business listing page. With all of our combined efforts, we are confident we can to raise enough money to fund the school!
