Kulshan Creek Neighborhood Youth Program is a year-round educational program that engages young people ages 5 to 18, including fourth graders, from thee primarily Latino neighboorhoods in Skagit Valley, Washington in a series of outdoor activities including all-day field trips and after-school programs. Students visit North Cascades National Park and Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
The program introduces youth to special places, increases their knowledge of the natural world, enhances their self-confidence, and encourages positive social interactions with peers, adult mentors, community members and local organizations.
The program is a unique partnership between North Cascades Institute, US Forest Service, Mount Vernon Police Department, Catholic Housing Services of Western Washington and North Cascades National Park.
