BENEFITING: Anna Schindler Foundation
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2016
I am a Spokane Valley Firefighter who has had the privilege of working on the same Department with Joe Schindler for the past 12 years. I have been aware of the Anna Schindler Foundation since it's inception because of my professional relationship with Joe.
I think the foundation is an incredible cause, and although I participated in the Golf Tournament in 2012 I have always wished that I would have been more involved in the past. I believe the comfort and support the foundation gives the families they are involved with is so important. I could not imagine what they must have to suffer through just with the trauma of having a child diagnosed, and I have always felt I could do more to support such a great cause.
2008 was my first Ironman event, and although I finished, I was a little disappointed in my time and effort. My second attempt was in 2012, and unfortunately I had a DNF, I don't believe I had the focus that year to truly accomplish my goals. I have wanted to re-attempt the Ironman, to satisfy my urge to finish in a time that would make me proud of my accomplishment and my efforts, but I have not had the focus to fully dedicate myself to the task. Until recently. Last year, while my wife and I were volunteering for a family food booth at the Ironman event, I got the bug again and decided it was time. My wife and I talked about my goals and finding that inner drive to accomplish them and I realized I have the opportunity to support an incredible foundation. This year, its not about my time, but about the privilege I get to work toward earning support for a worthy cause!
I am honored and excited to have the privilege to participate in the Ironman 2016 Event for the awareness of the Anna Schindler Foundation, please help me support these families through a rough time in their lives by donating through this page!!!!
