I first began serving with Still Water my freshman year of college at Trinity University in San Antonio. From the very start, I met Still Water staff members that were so extremely passionate about sharing the love of Christ with youth that I was intrigued to see what it was all about. Having helped with camps over the past six summers as a counselor and in leadership roles, I have seen firsthand what God is doing through this very special ministry to reach all kinds of youth and to help them pursue a deep relationship with Christ.
Still Water is an overnight sports, adventure, and leadership camp that is open to anyone ages 5-18. This camp is unique because it ministers to culturally and economically diverse kids. They scholarship 50% of campers, present to over 10,000 students in the public school system, and work with organizations such as FCA, YFC, Young Life, and others across the state during the year to stay connected with kids. Still Water intentionally has smaller camps (75-80 kids) where college students and families serve together as staff and leadership teams.
Now as a 4th grade teacher, I continue to have the opportunity to choose how I can best spend the summer months. Because I have a passion for working with kids and seeing them come to know Christ, I plan to serve with Still Water this entire summer. My purpose in saying all this is primarily to spread the word about the Still Water ministry and to ask you to prayerfully consider donating to this ministry. Even more, I ask that you join in praying for the Still Water ministry and the lives of the youth that will be attending camp this summer!
