EVENT DATE: Oct 11, 2015
We chose Médecins Sans Frontières because Anne has been following them since the Ebola outbreak in Zaïre (now Congo) in 1993-4. They do amazing medical and humanitarian aid in areas of the world that are devastated by epidemics, natural disasters, armed conflicts, etc. They also serve as witnesses against human rights violations, and polictical advocates for populations in need.
We chose Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) because Bob has never met an animal that he didn't want to make his friend! He can't rescue them all, but we can support Philadelphia's largest no-kill animal shelter. They provide rescue and adoption services, temporary foster care, and spaying and neutering services to homeless animals in Philadelphia.
Then there's The Chive. (http://thechive.com). We bonded early on over our shared affinity for this website and the associated subculture. We both have a collection of their T-shirts and spend far too much time perusing their funny posts and videos, but we also appreciate and support the charity work that they do. From a new wheelchair ramp for a disabled child, a new house for a struggling family, or a huge fundraiser for victims of natural disasters, Chivers and Chivettes are always helping though Chive Charities. http://chivecharities.org
Thank you for helping us support the amazing work of these two charities!
