BENEFITING: EAST COAST ASSISTANCE DOGS INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
Welcome to Anne's 4th Annual Birthday Fundraiser! Last year, we we raised $1400 for Community Food Share, Inc.
This year, help me celebrate my 28th birthday by supporting ECAD, Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities. ECAD aims to enable people with disabilities to gain greater independence and mobility through the use of specially educated dogs. ECAD is a non-profit organization and relies on private donations to place each Assistance Dog.
ECAD was founded by Lu and Dale Picard. When Lu's father suffered a stroke, she saw how much he hated being dependent on her. She taught their family pet to help him rise from a chair and retrieve some items, and noticed that her dad actually became more active and less depressed than when all his help came from a human. Lu saw first hand how Service Dogs could change people's lives, and in 1995 quit her full-time job to start ECAD. ECAD has grown to have training facilities in Connecticut and New York, and have placed Assistance Dogs in over a dozen states.
ECAD is a 4-star charity with 87.5% of the charity’s budget spent on the programs and services it exists to deliver. You can see a complete financial and transparency analysis of this charity here. Tax ID# 06-1436718.
