BENEFITING: EDUCATORS FOR EXCELLENCE
EVENT DATE: Jun 18, 2014
As many of you know, over the last year and a half, I have been involved with Educators 4 Excellence (E4E), a non-profit that works to ensure the voices of classroom teachers are included in policy discussions that affect our students and our classrooms. Recently I have joined E4E’s Young Professionals Board as a teacher member. Each May, E4E extends Teacher Appreciation Week to an entire month long celebration to recognize the incredible work that happens in classrooms every day and the remarkable leadership of their members outside the classroom.
Educators 4 Excellence is an incredibly important cause to me because as a teacher in New York City I have personally felt left out of many conversations and decisions involving education. I joined E4E last year as a way to become more involved in my profession and the decisions being made for our schools. E4E has given me a chance to connect with teacher leaders in New York City, as well as meet with policy makers to discuss important changes in education. E4E empowers teachers to become involved and have a voice.
In order to help appreciate and support the leadership of the 13,000 teachers across the country with whom E4E works, the Young Professionals Board has decided to throw a culminating spring fundraiser on June 19th, 2014. I would love for you to be there! During the fundraiser you will have the opportunity to meet with some of E4E’s teacher leaders, learn more about how E4E is working to solve some of the most pressing issues in education, and enjoy cocktails and light appetizers. It will be an inspiring night! Here are the details:
What: E4E’s Young Professionals Board Spring Fundraiser
When: Wednesday, June 18th, 2014, 6:00pm-9:00pm
Where: The Chester, 18 9th Avenue, New York, NY 10014
Why: Show your support for teacher leaders who are working hard to ensure the voices of classroom teachers are included in policy decisions that affect their classrooms and their profession. During the fundraiser you will have the opportunity to meet with some of E4E’s teacher leaders, learn more about how E4E is working to solve some of the most pressing issues in public education, and enjoy a two hour open bar and light appetizers.
**If you cannot attend the event, you can still make a donation at any amount of your choosing.
My goal is to raise $500. Every ticket purchase/donation will help support teachers across the country.
Thanks so much for your support!
About Educators 4 Excellence (E4E)
For far too long, education policy has been created without a critical voice at the table- the voice of classroom teachers.
Educators 4 Excellence, a teacher-led organization, is changing this dynamic by placing the voices of teachers at the forefront of the conversations that share our classrooms and careers.
E4E has a quickly growing national network of educators united by our Declaration of Teachers’ Principals and Beliefs. E4E members can learn about education policy and research, network with like-minded peers and policymakers, and take action advocating for teacher-created policies that lift student achievement and the teaching profession.
