Thanks to all of you who sponsored me in support of the Watershed Council and the first annual Swim for Grand Traverse Bay. I have entered again this year, and would so appreciate your support. I believe in preserving our planet, and this is one small way I can contribute. Walking the beaches anywhere, it is obvious that we need to do our part to reduce waste and keep these beautiful waters clean for generations to come.
Those who know me also know I am passionate about swimming. It has been a constant. When I travel, my suit, cap and goggles always go with me. Living and working in COLD places like Alaska and Antarctica, it's an understatement to say that there are limited opportunities for open water swimming, although I am a veteran of numerous Antarctic polar plunges! Returning to my roots here in Michigan, I have been so very fortunate to spend time on the shores of the Great Lakes visiting family and friends. Last year I began seeking out open water swimming events, and found the Swim For Grand Traverse Bay. It is a 2 mile open water point to point swim in Grand Traverse Bay near Traverse City. In order to participate, swimmers need to raise a minimum of $150 to benefit The Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay, a non-profit that works to protect the Bay and its 1,000-square-mile watershed. The website is http://www.swimforgtbay.com/ I would be honored if you would support and 'swim with me' me in this effort.
Last year you helped me raise over $400. While the minimum requirement for swimmers is $150, I would love to be able to meet a goal of $500. We are so very fortunate to enjoy such beauty here on the Great Lakes. I want to do my part to help keep the water CLEAN now and forever more.
Thanks for considering ANY size contribution, and "Just keep swimming"!
