BENEFITING: FLYING KITES
Two years ago, I was fortunate enough to travel across the Atlantic, to Kenya, where a team of strangers came together to climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in a personal journey to help raise money for some of the worlds poorest children. Upon our arrival in Njabini, we were given the opportinuty to spend time with those beautiful, talented, resilient children that we so desperately wanted to help provide a better life. As we said our goodbyes, I vowed to continue to help them even after I got home. I'm keeping that promise. Embarking on another adventure to Machu Picchu, Peru in February 2014, a few people from that same group hope to team up once again for another adventure and to demonstrate our continued support for the children of Flying Kites. We can't do this without the support of our community, friends and family. Please help me in my goal to raise $2500 to help educate, clothe, feed and shelter the children of Flying Kites. Thank you so much for your continued support in my adventures to help make the world a brighter place.
Please visit flyingkites.org to see the amazing things they are doing for the children in Kenya.
"At Flying Kites, we believe in children. Through our emphasis on exemplary care, education, and compassion, children who have suffered the devastating effects of poverty are being empowered to change our world.
Flying Kites was started when a little boy living in an overcrowded orphanage in the slums of Nairobi challenged a small group of volunteers to see him as a child, and not as an orphan. Orphans need bowls of rice. Children need families, people to invest in the quality of their education and the possibility of their dreams. They need nourishment and inspiration and adventure and security; they need to be shown that the world cares about who they are and who they will become."
