Before I was a SpeakeasyDC board member, I was an occasional (story)teller, and before that, I was an audience member. The stories the members of our community share are particularly exciting to connect to because the format is just a stage version of something we do as people in our everyday lives. What I love about what we do is that we make the ordinary extraordinary.
Tell our stories and listen to the stories of others. And it is way of building community in a moment, in an almost ritualistic gathering that is not necessarily new, but just as needed as ever. While we connect in more ways than ever before with electronic devices that get smaller, over distances across the world, it is just as important to cultivate and maintain that in person connection to those around us, with undivided and focused attention.
There's something quintessentially human about the experience that we try to honor and share in our work, and if you could consider helping us to do that, our tellers, our audience, our community would greatly appreciate it.
For those who are already a member of the community, just think about some of the powerful and raw moments you've experienced, and what that is worth to you.
For those who aren't part of our community? Well, the secret is that you're already a member of that community, even if you don't know it yet.
For everyone, just thank you in advance, for considering supporting our work with a financial donation. And please know that any amount helps. Large or small or anywhere in between, we get closer to our goal with your donation, than we would have without it.
