Anthony Guerra Life Preserver Fund
Organized by: Be Champion
August 2, 2015 marks the one year anniversary of Anthony's passing. He was a beautiful young man with a bright future who also experienced Autism. He loved going to the beach as many in our coastal regions do, unfortunately it was also the water where Anthony met his demise. As many others who experience Autism, Anthony was highly intelligent, however often found himself in precarious and potentially dangerous situations, as he acted very much erratically on sudden impulse. Perhaps if there had been a life preserver available or people aware of the signs of Autism to readily recognize he was not an individual who would intentionally be left unaccompanied, his family would have been able to take him home. I believe all of our children should be able to enjoy nature and bask in its beauty and live to tell about it or in Anthony's case, more likely draw about it. As with many people who experience Autism Anthony exhibited low verbal communication skills and of the many talents of this nine year old boy, Anthony had been an accomplished artist from a very young age, spending hours, (all day if his parents would let him), drawing. Drawing and writing often being the medium of communication for him to the world around him. He is missed by many everyday, by donating to this fund you can help shed light on these creative and mysterious people and help keep them safe around our coasts and river ways.
