Because of this, a hearing's scheduled for 9 am tomorrow to determine if he can continue living at home. Please keep him in your prayers! See More

THE STORY:

I met Anthony about 18 months ago at Cornerstone Church, where he regularly attends, and he has become a close friend. His compassion for others, and sense of humor, in the face of difficulties I can't imagine dealing with for a week, let alone most of his life, are truly inspiring. As a result of severe childhood trauma, he has frequent night terrors, and often hurts himself upon impact with the walls of his bedroom.  He's been hospitalized twice for a concussion in the last 3 months alone. Two different doctors recommended a Tempurpedic mattress, as the memory foam makes it much harder to get out of bed while in this unconscious state, and both have also stated he cannot survive many more concussions, given the damage already present. Additionally, 8 years ago he suffered a hit-and-run by a drunk driver who was never caught, and literally had to learn to walk and tie his shoes all over again. As most of his disability income goes towards his residence, medical, and insurance costs, he subsists on processed food from the local food bank (no fresh meat, fruit, or vegetables - just boxed & canned goods), and $16/mo in food stamps. My goal is to raise enough to provide Anthony with a mattress which suits his immediate medical needs, as well as a cushion fund which can provide a source of actual food while he searches for a suitable source of income that can sustain his grocery needs, and also provide a sense of purpose for him. By profession, before the accident, he was a caregiver for the elderly, a vocation he still loves and excels in, although due to his memory challenges he is no longer able to complete the formal certification process. I thank every supporter for your prayers and your contributions, and feel so blessed by the opportunity to come alongside a brother in Christ who is truly in need.  Sincerely, Brian Vaughan
