In Malaysian schools, opportunities for learning outside the classroom and spending time with our students in a non-exam oriented environment are fewer and farther between as their final exams press in on them... To show them that learning can happen in any environment and without worrying about the stress of their exam scores and the weight of their futures, we have organized a tri-school frisbee meet!!
The enthusiastic shouts that greeted our proposal for after school frisbee practices despite the sweltering heat, are all we needed to convince us that a high energy Frisbee camp will be just what our students need to revamp their curiosity and excitement!
Bad news and good news! The price of transporting a bus full of kids is exponentially higher than we expected, and higher than our budgets support-- but still measly by U.S. standards! Your donations could help us get 60 kids together for a weekend of Ultimate lessons and friendly games, introduce them to other kids from schools far from their insular towns, and show them that English isn't just that extra-stressful exam they are dreading, but also their connection to learning more about American culture and a new, awesome sport they can continue to play long after we're gone.
We are determined to make this happen for our students, and anything you can contribute would be much appreciated!
