BENEFITING: Human Rights Campaign NYC Marathon Team
ORGANIZER: Human Rights Campaign NYC Marathon Team
September 24th marks the first annual The Gay 10K in Houston and I've committed to running those 6.2 miles in the Texas heat to raise funds for HRC's Foundation.
The recent tragedy in Orlando hit our community hard and was a frightening reminder of how much work we still have to do. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation improves the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people by working to increase understanding and encourage the adoption of LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices.
In honor of, and in memory of the 49 lives that were lost, I'm going to dedicate my race training to each of them.
For every person that donates $25, I will do a plank hold for 49 seconds.
For every person that donates $50, I will do 49 crunches.
For every person that donates $100, I will do 49 push-ups.
For every person that donates $500, I will do 49 burpies.
For every person that donates $1000, I will cycle 49 miles.
And if anyone really wants to make me work, for every person that donates $5000, I will run 49 miles to train for this race.
Help me in remembering that #weareorlando and let's raise some funds to continue the work we need to change hearts and minds and move equality forward.
