BENEFITING: THE CENTER FOR ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN WOMEN
EVENT DATE: Feb 09, 2013
In 2012, I was selected to participate in the Asian Pacific American Women’s Leadership Institute (APAWLI), the country’s premier leadership program for Asian Pacific American women. Run by the Center for Asian Pacific American Women, APAWLI is an intense, year-long learning experience that brings together women from diverse backgrounds, careers and interests. I was lucky to be among a group of 9 Asian Pacific American (APA) women selected nationwide. I consider these women my "sisters" and gained something even more valuable than leadership skills - a community of Asian ”sisters” dedicated to supporting each other’s leadership and working to improve the lives of women as well as Asian Pacific Americans. These outcomes are critically important for all who believe that diversity matters, especially at the highest levels of leadership in business, government and community.
Participation in the program costs $7,000 for each person – a mint sum for anyone who is looking to advance their leadership skills. The benefits, however, are worth every penny and I selfishly want the program to be available to another class of amazing women who want to change the world. While the Center has always provided scholarships to women who cannot afford the full cost or whose organizations lack the resources to sponsor their participation, they depend in part on alums like me to help raise the money. I need your help to raise $7,000 and support the participation of a future “sister”. Any amount is appreciated and I hope that you can make a generous donation.
You’ve worked with me and know well my commitment to developing great leaders. And I’ve always acted on the belief that money should never be an obstacle to full participation. I hope you’ll join me and uphold this belief.
