A Place to Bark (http://www.aplacetobark.com/) is in jeapordy of having to close down due to the combination of rising costs and diminishing donations. This would be a shame, as this 501c3 organization has been saving lives of dogs (and sometimes cats) since 2001. In 2009, over 600 were saved and in 2010, over 700. This has been done by President/Director Bernie Berlin with very low overhead. She operates A Place to Bark in a Tennessee community where the kill rate in the shelters is very high. The dogs are dying right now because she doesn't have the funds to rescue them, pay for vetting, rent the van for transport, pay to heat the kennels they stay in while awaiting transport and the other costs that come with rescue. For whatever you can afford to send, you can be a part of helping Bernie save lives. The donation is a tax deduction and will make you feel good. Do it today before you get distracted.
