BENEFITING: DAYS FOR GIRLS INTERNATIONAL
EVENT DATE: May 08, 2015
On the 8th of May this year I will be starting The Camino de Santiago which is a pilgrimage in Spain. I am doing the Camino del Norte along the northern coast of Spain which is 521 miles long. I will be walking for roughly 35 days and ending in the city of Santiago de Compostela.
I have recently come back from India, Nepal and Africa - places I have been inspired and also shocked by. I feel very lucky having grown up in the UK where women have basic products avalible to them everyone month.
In India girls are missing school due to lack of santiary pads etc., the same in Nepal and in Africa and many other countries. This means that over a year they could miss up to 2 months of school. I want to help raise money for a chairty called Days for Girls International, that creates sustainable, reusable and eco friendly packs for girls. The packs not only solve the problem of finding money each month for sanitary towels, they also keep girls in school and maintain their dignity.
So I've decided to take this opportunity to ask all of my lovely friends and family and anyone they know, to help me raise some money for a charity that is attempting to help young women and girls all over the world.
If I were to raise £1 pound for every mile I walk, then I can fund roughly 80-90 packs. This amount will provide packs for every girl in a girls school I volunteered at in Kenya which would be wonderful!
I would be so so grateful for anything you can give to this cause and it will definitely spur me along the way!! So a big thank you in advance!
