Orginally from Michigan, April is a "Jackie Atkins" protege out of the Mercedes Club in NYC and this is her first bout.
April worked with an amazing organization in Miami where she lived called Inner City Outings (ICO). "We took kids from the inner city on camping trips, bike riding through the everglades and other fun outdoor activities that they normally could not do without the charity to help them. So I can see how important the Give A Kid A Dream organization is, helping out kids learn how to box that would never have this opportunity normally"
She credits her strength and being an independent woman to two role models:
"Number one will always be my mother Janis Green. She is a single mother who has raised both myself and my 17 year old sister to be great women, she has had many personal and health struggles throughout her life but has always taught me to be strong, independent and happy.
My other role model is my trainer Jackie Atkins. "I don't know how the woman does all that she does. Every time I see her she is working on a new project for her kids at her gym and trying to raise money to get more kids in to teach them about boxing, she is and always will be an inspiration to me not only for being an amazing boxer but a kind, strong and independent woman!"
