BENEFITING: BREAST CANCER COALITION OF ROCHESTER INC
April O’Malley had a youthfulness - a light - that everyone admired. She had a great laugh, and an even greater heart. She was loyal, honest, and very fun. She loved Halloween costumes, Elf on the Shelf at Christmas, practical jokes, dancing, telling stories, and most of all her family.
In May 2013, April noticed a lump in her breast and within days was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer. An advanced, rare type of cancer had already spread from the lump in her breast to nearby lymph nodes, and on into her bones.
April took the challenge head on and fought with every fiber of her body. She fought relentlessly for 5 months, but on October 3rd, 2013, April passed away surrounded by those who loved her most.
It is unspeakable that this could happen to our April. No words could reflect the sadness in our hearts. But anyone who knew April knows she wouldn't want us to be sad for her. We must walk on, and on May 10th, that's just what we'll do. For her children, for her honor, for her memory...and we know her light will guide us.
