Aquaponics for Haiti
Organized by: Wade White
We are a husband/wife team of retired public school teachers who have a vision to provide a proven yet revolutionary system of food production for a large number of hungry people in a one of the poorest 3rd world nations. The first part of our vision is to attend school to learn how to build and maintain a large aquaponics system. Aquaponics is the science of raising freshwater fish and using their wastewater to provide rich nutrients for growing plants in hydroponics tanks. The major part of the nutrients required by the fish are harvested from the plants being grown in the system. The plants and the fish are interdependent and they're each used as food for people. After we've completed our training, the next step in our vision is to travel to Haiti and build, then start up these systems. The third step is to teach the missionaries and the Haitian people how to grow the plants and the fish, maintain the systems, and harvest from them. We need approx. $3,500 to pay for our school tuition, for our transportation to school, and to pay for our lodging at the school site in Texas. This is an opportunity for you to help put someone on the frontlines of Christian missionary ministry, and to provide direct humanitarian aid to many starving people in the poorest nation on Earth.
