My son, Nolan, as many of you know is hard of hearing and attends a school at the Ivy Nursery, a program for deaf and hard of hearing in Mt. Lakes. I am running 5K race in memory of two young people whose lives were taken much to young by a drunk driver. I personally donated to the Billy and Ashley Foundation. I checked with their mother first before signing up to be fundraiser for the Sound Start Program, and she gave me her blessing. I figured I can run in memory of two people and help raise money for a wonderful program that is helping Nolan and has helped so many others. The Sound Start Program has given me a wonderful gift, they taught us as a family how to communicate with each other through sign language. This program has little by little also helped Nolan to start to make sounds, too. I am just hoping to help others have that same opportunity.
