EVENT DATE: Oct 28, 2013
Donate Directly: http://arava.kintera.org/2013israelride/losttribe. The 350 mile bike ride through Israel highlights cultural and environmental sites and includes cyclists from all over the world, of diverse faiths, to raise money for two important organizations, the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and Hazon. Both organizations promote environmental protection in Israel, the Middle East and Africa and in the United States.
The Arava Institute is working to confront the serious environmental challenges in Israel, The Middle East, Africa, the United States and the developing world, by creating a leadership cadre of environmentalists, through important research, and through public involvement. The Arava Institute draws students from across the Middle East and the world, encouraging environmental cooperation between peoples, and working towards peace and sustainable development on a regional and global scale. By its efforts, Arava promotes peace and cooperation in this volatile time. You can learn more at www.arava.org.
The second beneficiary of the Israel Ride is Hazon, the largest Jewish environmental organization in the United States. Hazon creates healthy and sustainable communities through the Environmental Bike Rides, the Community-Supported Agriculture projects (supporting family owned farms) and other cutting edge programs. Hazon brings people together, builds community, and promotes conservation and sustainability. You can learn more at www.hazon.org.
