Seattle ACGA2013's Fundraiser:

Arbor Photo Fest

Seattle's Photo
Seattle ACGA2013

THE STORY:

Trees are always in our pics, whether we are aware or not. They are huge. They breathe what we don't. They can be hugged or ignored. Post a photo of yourself with a tree, aware or unaware of the majestic looming presence and donate a small portion of dollars to the ACGA Conference Fund in gratitude for trees and community gardens. The photos will become a mural where you least expect it.

DONATION: $10

This is about community gardens. This donation is in memory of my Grandfather, William Kessler, who flew in WWII and my father, who is also a Vet, Vietnam. Both helped me see trees. And they helped me garden. And then, I moved to Seattle where there is a strong P-patch program. Family is community. Community gardens bring together more than family, they bring together humanity: humanity is a bunch of people trying to work together for a cause. There are neighbors I don't see until gardening season, and there are neighbors I'd never know until I've spent a few hours working in my p-patch, while they work in theirs. The P-patch program is our urban landscape, Seattl,e providing an opportunity for folks to meet neighbors, grow vegetables for the family table; and, put thousands of pounds of food on the table of those who don't grow their own, or can't afford to buy their own. If I can give $10. YOU can. This donation goes toward bringing together people from the Pacific Northwest, Canada, and the United States for the ACGA Conference in August (August 8-11). The community garden is strong all across these areas, and the ACGA unites, as well as educates folks. Check the link http://www.communitygarden.org/ This is the first of 3 messages. Should you like to be un-included in the emails in the future, please email me at $100, I mean eatmorefruit@yahoo.com. The second email will be a series of photos of my father and grandfather and some art regarding community gardens across America. The last, will be a final appeal. Enjoy. 5 years ago
