Greetings Family and Friends—
I am deeply grateful for your generosity and support as I train to run the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, October 26, 2014. For my first marathon, I have joined Team Red Cross to help raise funds for disaster relief.
Those of you, who really know me, know that I am an adventurous person who regularly volunteers in my community. I have set my fund raising goal at $500; however, it would be awesome if you could help me surpass my goal! I thank you in advance for your donation and support!
Each year, the American Red Cross immediately responds to about 70,000 natural and man-made disasters in the U.S. People count on the Red Cross to help them in their darkest hour. In turn, the support of donors like you makes it possible for the Red Cross to fulfill its humanitarian mission. Thank you for joining me. Here are a few ways your dollars will be turned into essential needs:
If you donate $335, you can cover the cost to deploy an Emergency Response Vehicle to a disaster in our community
If you donate $200, you can provide a family of 4 with a standard package of supplies including a clean-up kit and comfort items
If you donate $125, you can provide a single blanket for 25 people affected by disaster
If you donate $50, you can cover the cost to provide a parent with diapers, wipes and soy formula for an infant
If you donate $20, Red Cross workers will be able to provide 2 hot meals (lunch and dinner) to be distributed at shelters through mobile feeding in our community
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. The Marine Corps Marathon serves as an advocate for the values of courage and commitment fostered by United States Marine Corps, and strives to enhance the quality of life aboard Marine Corp Base Quantico for the military members, their families and the supporting community. The American Red Cross is proud to support our armed forces on and off the blacktop!
