A Community Preparedness Day is a large-scale outreach event that helps community members become informed and prepared for a local disaster. Volunteers teach emergency preparedness trainings throughout the day. Participants attend one 30-minute training session, after which they receive a complementary basic emergency supplies and information about how to create an emergency plan. The event, which may be cosponsored by additional groups, businesses and/or organizations is free to community members.
