BENEFITING: Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation
EVENT: New York City 2016
THE STORY:
About the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation
The Siller Family started the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor the memory of their brother, Stephen, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.
The goal of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to continue Stephen’s legacy by supporting our nation’s first responders and service members. Building for America’s Bravest, a proud program of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, constructs specially adapted smart homes for our most catastrophically injured service members. In January 2015, the Foundation also raised over one million dollars to fully pay off the mortgages for the families of slain NYPD Officers Wenjian Liu and Luis Ramos.
Our Mission
Sunday September 25 will mark team Architesta’s first participation in support of the 5K run/walk to benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and honor those who lost lives on September 11, 2001. The 5K route follows firefighter Stephen Siller's last footsteps on the morning of 9/11. Upon hearing of the attack, Stephen tried to drive through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to reach Lower Manhattan, but it had already been closed. Rather than simply returning home, he strapped 60 pounds of gear to his back and raced from the Tunnel to the Towers, where he gave up his life to save others. Your donation to team Architesta’s fundraising page will benefit the various programs of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
We thank you for considering supporting our team & helping the Tunnel to Towers Foundations raise funds for the those who help us.
