"Are You Lonesome Tonight?" Free tickets for Seniors
Organized by: Ruby O'Gray
Bluff City Tri-Art Theatre Company was created 10 Seasons (2006) ago by 3 female artists who were over 55. The ladies had performed and or taught theatre for more than 30 years each, had Broadway and touring credits, but came back home for family or health reasons. The company offered opportunities to senior actors, directors, technicians, children and adults, and other individuals in a workshop-like environment, and whose time to work on a show would not be status quo for rehearsals. It also presented 4-6 productions per year, usually original. It is housed in the 100 seat THEATREWORKS, ans alternates usage with 11 other arts organizations who are members of the TheatreWorks/ Evergreen Consortium. We are producing the play “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” by Andy Moseley with 3 shows at the Evergreen Theatre location. We wanted to give something back to the community by letting at least 50 65 year olds in the 100 seat theatre for the only matinee performance of the One-Act Play FREE of charge. With the founders being seniors, a daytime show and safety would bring many out who don’t go at night. There is yet a fee to pay for the show for that day that ranges from technical to other staffing. We are requesting the amount of $505.50 to sponsor seniors (50 at $8 each plus other expenses that include a stage manager more) If you would like to pay it forward by helping seniors attend, please give to this fund. September 4-show 1:00 matinee & 7:30pm / and September 5-7:30 show at Evergreen Theatre, 1705 Poplar Ave., in Memphis, TN. We will have to pay the rental expenses for all 3 shows within a week of the show. Ideally, we would like to have all 3 shows open FREE for 65 year olds, but we need to sell some seats to pay for rental, set, and other expenses. Won’t you help send a senior to a matinee and make them happy? Thank you.
