BENEFITING: Save a Childs Heart Foundation US
EVENT DATE: Dec 15, 2013
In honor of my Bat Mitzvah, I decided to raise money for an organization that combined my love for Israel with my desire to help children who have life-threatening illnesses. With the help of firends, I found the perfect organization...Save a Child's Heart (SACH). SACH is an Israeli-based international humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide life-saving cardiac surgery for children from developing countries.
For my Bat Mitzvah I am learning about the Jewish obligation of Pikuach Nefesh, or saving a life, and that is what SACH is all about. By helping sick children, regardless of nationality, religion, color, gender, or financial situation, Save a Child's Heart is helping to save lives and make this a better world.
You can help! Instead of a gift, please consider joining me in my goal to help SACH by making a donation in honor of my Bat Mitzvah. The money that I collect will be used to save children's lives. It costs $1,000 to fly a sick child to Israel for the surgery; $2,500 pays for the housing and food while they are in Israel; and $6,500 will pay for the hospital costs. Through gifts and fundraising, my goal is to collect $10,000, enough to save the life of a child.
This summer I hope to visit Israel and go to the Wolfson Medical Center in Holon where Save a Child's Heart is based. I will have the opportunity to visit the house that hosts families of SACH patients.
