BENEFITING: LONGHOPES DONKEY SHELTER INC
EVENT DATE: Jun 22, 2013
Hello Family & Friends of Ari Zucker!
My bar mitzvah Torah portion is Balak, which includes a story about a sorcerer sent to curse the people of Israel. Riding upon his faithful donkey, Balaam the sorcerer doesn’t see an angel with a sword blocking their path, but the donkey does and veers away. Balaam beats the donkey until G-d’s voice speaks through her mouth telling Balaam that he’ll only speak the words put in his mouth by G-d. Balaam ends up blessing the people of Israel.
Longhopes Donkey Shelter is a great place where mistreated and abandoned donkeys are given a home and a chance to be adopted and brought to a new family. Though it is not widely known, donkeys are actually very smart, kind, and domesticated, unlike the widely thought image of stubbornness. It is sad that such amazing animals are mistreated so often. At Longhopes the donkeys are rehabilitated and trained. With about 50 donkeys living there at a time, Longhopes Donkey Shelter needs volunteers, donations, and adoptions.
I plan to raise $1800 dollars for this meaningful organization as my bar mitzvah project. I know my bar mitzvah is a year away (June 22, 2013), but it is never too early to do a good deed. Eighteen (chai) is the Hebrew symbol for life, so I am asking for donations that are in increments of 18.
Please donate to this worthwhile cause and help me meet my fundraising goal for my bar mitzvah project.
You can donate to Longhopes via their website links to Paypal, Network for Good or through my link on crowdrise. http://www.longhopes.org/ Please put a note that you are donating in honor of my bar mitzvah so I can track the donations to meet my goal. Everything helps: $18, $36, $72, $360, etc !!
Option #2: Help A Mule, Get Out Of School.
I invite my friends to go with me to Longhopes one day next year to volunteer together and spend time with my new furry friends. We can have a fant"ass"tic time helping the center feed and clean, etc. Let me know if you want to go on a field trip!
