We provide services and programs to over 24,000 animals annually. Each year the cost increases, but the number of animals in need does not. We adhere to a strict philosophy of accepting all species, and our ability to provide care for such a wide variety of creatures makes the Animal Rescue League truly unique. We are the only shelter in the region that takes in and cares for both wild and domestic animals. If not for the Animal Rescue League’s open door policy of accepting all domestic animals, regardless of age, health or temperament, many of these precious animals would have nowhere to go. "Open Door" means that every animal finds shelter here, every day. Between the Shelter and Wildlife Center, we take in over 13,000 animals annually, and 15% of our animals came to us because they were turned away from limited admission shelters. As an Open Door Shelter, our presence is critical to the community. Without us, sick or injured animals would be left to suffer needlessly and dangerous animals would be left loose to roam the streets.
