A School in Pakistan
Organized by: Asif Malik
When I was in Pakistan, I started FAMIS Girls College in Hasanabdal, Pakistan because there was no girls college in the area and girls had to travel to another city. Not an easy choice for Parents. It was back in 1995. We rented a building and got started. This was back in 1995. Then we felt need for a computer training center and we did that and a primary school and we did that. Over time we filled the gap from Primary to College and it became all the way from Play Group to Graduation. I moved to US in 1998 and we somehow continued the project. We closed Girls College when Government opened one in the area and closed Computer Training Center when there were enough other facilities. We now have one Primary School and we recently bought our own land and build three rooms for Montessori Section. Primary Section is still in rented building. It is hard to deal with landlords while sitting in US and I am on my way to have slowly my own building. Though I have never earned any money, it started as a business project and remains so. Using my expertise, I now want o start a Charity School in the area for those who cannot afford to pay. It will run separately from my existing school but obviously supported in terms of expertise. It will have the same curriculum but run in a completely different facility. I already have purchased the land but it will take me a long time to build it. I thought this source can help. This is my first attempt for crowd funding. If successful, I want to use this expertise of running schools remotely in under developed countries and build setup where education is needed.
