Arsenal Start-Up Capital Campaign
Organized by: J Spenser Lotz
Arsenal Performing Arts is a newly formed organization with the goal of enhancing the marching and performing arts in the state of New Mexico. To do this, we’re planning on fielding a SoundSport Team and an Independent Winter Guard for the 2017 DCI/WGI seasons, representing New Mexico’s first foray into the Drum Corps activity. By supporting our capital campaign you are helping us to cover all of the costs associated with forming a new non-profit organization, including the purchase of important equipment to help us succeed in this first season.
While we are planning on borrowing the majority of the equipment we will be using, there are some instruments that we cannot borrow and therefore must purchase. One of the most defining aspects of Drum Corps instrumentation is the use of shoulder-mounted tubas known as contras. Unfortunately for us, the majority of the organizations in this area utilize a different type of tuba -known as a sousaphone-which means there are no contras that we can borrow. As such we will be trying to purchase full line of Wessex contras for our first season, as it is our belief that our program will benefit in the long run by giving our players immediate exposure to this unique and somewhat challenging instrument.
Your support in our capital campaign will help us to purchase these contras, as well as drum sticks, drum heads, marching cymbals, field paint, and all of the other small but necessary items that we need to succeed in this first season. Your support is much appreciated and together we can take the initiative and create New Mexico’s first Drum and Bugle Corps.
