Art For Animals Charity Exhibition Calendar
Organized by: Fusion Art
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~Mahatma Gandhi
Fusion Art Gallery in Palm Springs, CA is hosting an art exhibition for charity, during the month of December 2016, to raise money for several Coachella Valley animal rights welfare organizations - the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, SNIP, The Living Desert, Animal Samaritans and the Humane Society of the Desert.
The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is the only public shelter in the Coachella Valley operating under the no-kill philosophy and is dedicated to responsible pet stewardship and the humane treatment of animals.
SNIP is a low cost, mobile spay and neuter bus that just took its inaugural ride on June 3, 2016. The organization provides an affordable mobile veterinary clinic that spays and neuters animals all over the Coachella Valley.
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is committed to desert conservation through preservation, education and appreciation. Desert animals face many challenges to survival and the Living Desert is committed to build up, under controlled conditions, populations of various species of desert animals and plants threatened with extinction through cooperative research, educational programs and biological studies contributing to the protection of desert species in a wild state.
Animal Samaritans is committed to eliminating the euthanasia of adoptable animals. They have programs and services to save the lives of healthy and treatable animals through humane education; low cost spay and neuter; low-cost vaccinations; microchipping; shelter and care; and adoption. They also offer free services that enhance the bond between people and animals, such as a volunteer-based animal assisted therapy program for hospitals, health care, special needs facilities, and Juvenile Hall.
The Humane Society of the Desert is the largest no-kill animal sanctuary in Southern California with a nine acre facility and an Animal Hospital that provides state of the art veterinarian services for our animals and the community.
As part of our fundraising efforts we are creating a charity calendar out of the top 12 winners of the juried art competition. This calendar will be sold and 100% of the proceeds will be donated equally to the 5 charities.
As such we are trying to raise money through this campaign to pay for the design and printing of the calendar so that every dollar of the sale price of the calendar can be donated to the charities. Any money that is raised above the amount needed to pay for the printing of the calendar will be donated to the charities equally.
The art exhibition will be held in Fusion Art Gallery in Palm Springs from December 7th-31st with an artist's reception the evening of December 10th from 6pm-9pm. We will also have a daytime event on the 10th between 11am and 3pm where the SNIP Bus will be available for tours and talks with the volunteer veterinarians and some of the shelters will bring out ambassador animals. We are currently planning more fun activities for the daytime event which will be announced as the event gets closer. Fusion Art Gallery is located at 2658 S. Cherokee Way in Palm Springs, CA 92264 (in the Backstreet Art District).
