I used to live in Orlando, and it was there that I found myself. I found a community there—a loving, diverse, wonderful community of LGBT people who welcomed me with open arms in a time before I called that community my own. As I watched facebook on Sunday, waiting to see that all of my friends had checked in as "safe" and alive, I thought about the hundreds of people doing the very same thing who would never get confirmation that their friends and loved ones were safe. This is for Jean Carlos Nieves Rodriguez, a friend's cousin who lost his life. It is for the friends of friends recovering in the hospital. It is for the lucky people who made it out unharmed but whose lives will never be the same. It is for all of those who did not. It is for their families and friends. It is for the city of Orlando. 100% of proceeds for these prints will go to help the victims and their families.
