BENEFITING: ART CREATION FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 30, 2015
Art Creation Foundation For Children offers education, meals, art and entrepreneurial training to at-risk-youth in Jacmel, Haiti. Founded in 2003, ACFFC provides essential support for 100 youth, offering a safe and loving environment, and a framework through which they can learn essential life skills.
Funds raised with this campaign will support our ongoing programs through the end of the year and aid in the launch of our Young Entrepreneurs Program.
Building on the public success of our Mosaic Program, we plan to launch a series of arts-based entrepreneurial businesses with our older youth. These will support them in becoming professional, self-supporting artists and citizens, while bolstering the existing social programs which allow these young artists to thrive.

We have an amazing story.
ACFFC began in Jacmel, Haiti with a handful of kids living in extreme poverty, offering essential social programs and art training - fostering self-esteem and skill-building through creative expression. The program was small and funded largely through personal donations.
After the earthquake in 2010, ACFFC took on additional kids in need, almost doubling in size to 100 children. There was widespread devastation in Jacmel, leading to massive economic and personal loss. Jacmel became a city filled with rubble and tent camps.
Our youth, joined together like a family, relied on the structure of ACFFC for support and hope, and continued to create in the face of this disaster.
In June of 2010, American mosaic artist Laurel True was invited to come to Jacmel and work with ACFFC youth to teach them how to create mosaics. They began with a public mural, made from broken ceramic and mirror, depicting a Tree of Life. The mural was offered to the city of Jacmel as a memorial to the lives lost in the earthquake, and as a symbol of hope for the community.
That Tree of Life grew into a 350 foot-long mural spanned a city block and wrapped around the corner and along the ocean, planting the seeds for a Mosaic Program that would change the face of the city.
The creative work of our youth has resulted in neighborhood beautification, economic development and community pride in the city of Jacmel, Haiti.
Youth in the ACFFC Mosaic Program have created over 40 public mosaic murals and seating areas throughout Jacmel, helping transform the city in the years since the earthquake.
Building on the visibility and success of the Mosaic Program, we plan to launch a series of entrepreneurial projects that will benefit our youth as part of the Young Entrepreneurs Program.
