6th ANNUAL ART DAY CELEBRATION WORKSHOP EVENT
EVENT DATE: Jul 20, 2017
It is with pride that Diakonos International is announcing our 6th annual Art Day Celebration, to be held on July 21st and 22nd 2017 in the little country town of Fond Des Negres, Haiti. Fond Des Negres is a community where the average income is only $350/year, or less than $1/day. There are over 100 children in this community where the children do not even have shoes to wear on their feet.
Diakonos International’s core mission is to prepare the disenfranchised on becoming productive citizens. In order to do this, we are committed to expose them to the fine arts and to inspire them to become creative.
Art Day Celebration (ADC) is two-day community workshop developed to uplift, empower, and nurture some of the most vulnerable kids in the world through exploration of the creative arts. A motivating conviction of Diakonos International is the belief that art is a therapeutic, and educational tool that can help children process their emotions and feelings in order to develop social and emotional wellness. Additionally, art therapy improves their apprehension while building self-confidence, and also improves and enhances their natural creativity.
We feed the children, do arts and craft projects and events with them, and let them just the kids be kids...
Of all the countries in the Western Hemisphere, none has faced greater challenges to improve the lives of its children than Haiti. According to statistics, 50 percent of children do not attend school. Approximately 30% of children attending primary school will not make it to third grade. 60% will abandon school before sixth grade. Add to this, the restavek issue (child slavery) in Haiti...
Diakonos International is committed to changing some of these statistics!
Would you help us fundraise this year to bring an extraordinary event to these children, including our own from Kominote Ti Fanmi Nou? Your simple donation will make a profound impact in these children's lives!
Thank you for your generous heart!
