Artem's Musical Gift

Support a very talented graduate student in his violin studies!! Artem Kolesov is a graduate student studying violin at Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago. He came here on a scholarship that includes only his tuition, not his room and board or other expenses. Artem is from Russia and cannot work while here in the U.S. and has spent the past year in several challenging living situations. This fund is to pay his rent and some living expenses as he begins his second year of graduate school. Originally from Saint Petersburg, Russian, Artem is a 22 year old graduate student. Beginning violin at the age of six with renowned violinist, Natyalya Maximenko, he soon was launched as a young prodigious talent and performed widely throughout Russia. He later went on to study with Professor Irina Chichina. At the age of twelve he won first prize at the International violin competition in Tallinn, Estonia. Subsequently, he took the first prize at the International Freiburg violin competition in Germany and was awarded a special prize as the most outstanding young violinist in St. Petersburg, Russia (2009). He has performed several times as soloist with the renowned Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. That performance was recorded for television and at the age of 16 Artem was invited to study with Philippe Djokic at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.
