BENEFITING: Arthritis Foundation
ORGANIZER: Arthritis Foundation
As the Corporate Responsibility leader in the PwC Stamford market, I started an initiative to organize groups of my colleagues to run in 5Ks, which support charitable organizations. "Running for a Cause" has encouraged teaming, well-being, and most importantly has raised thousands of dollars for local and national charities.
I began running competitively in high school, took a hiatus during my 20s and now have reignited my passion for the sport. This fall marks the 20th anniversary since my last competitive high-school cross country season, so I figured now is a perfect time to run my first marathon!
Given my passion for running and charitable work, I decided that I would raise money for the Arthritis Foundation. I first gained exposure to the Arthritis Foundation at the annual NYC Gala in 2014. I was thoroughly impressed by a speech given by the sister of one of my colleagues at PwC, who was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.
Over the years many of my family members, friends and colleagues have been affected by this unforgiving disease. In fact, 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. have been diagnosed with Arthritis, so you probably know several people with the disease as well.
I am incredibly honored to be running for this amazing organization and will be grateful for every pain-free stride I take on my way to 26.2 miles. Please help me, in any amount you can, to reach my goal.
