The practice of art and the development of creativity is fundamental to human life. Art is a basic form of communication in all societies. It fosters learning and development in many other subjects. Children in developing nations don't often get exposure to art that we do. Your donation will support my three-week trip to a children's home on La Gonave, Haiti to do basic art training and creative exploration for 74 children there. They are in great need of the help in development that art training gives. Read on.

On the island of La Gonave, Haiti is a home for children started by a Haitian woman, Madame Soliette. The plight of the street children of her native town broke her heart, so she started taking them in on her own in 2007. Today she has 74 children! In recent years a cooperative organization (Okipe) has come about to support her efforts. From their website ( "Mme Soliette dreams of providing a solid education, proper medical care and vocational training with a vision to see these children raised up as future leaders and productive citizens of Haiti." I will join this cooperative effort to bring art to these very special children.

Help me be a part of that dream by supporting my efforts to bring art, that vital practice, to Madame Soliette's children. I am a thirty-year practicing artist, and life long student of world art and art history. This first trip also supports basic 'fact-finding' for my further dream of building an ongoing art program for the children. Please help by donating today. $3500 will fund the cost of art supplies, travel and expenses for the three-week stay in Haiti. Any funds over the basic amount will be given to further develop Madame Soliette's children.
