She invented a planet and a creature to survive there. Help other kids THINK and LEARN with visits to 200 schools/organizations in 2017.
Help break this barrier--"We have funds for your program, but not for travel". We bring hands-on learning based on curriculum, focusing on students in areas of low income.
Students often just memorize and not understand. You can tell a student that Venus is hotter than Mercury because of cloud density (ho, hum), but when they have to INVENT a planet they have to THINK about what characteristics influence it. Then they are challenged to build a living thing that could adapt to that environment and explain how it survives there. Now it's fun and engaging, using problem solving skills that help them understand what they are learning.
Your donations will allow students, preschool to middle schoool, to learn like this in hands-on sessions. The school/organization will pay the workshop fees--we are entreprenurial and charge for our sevices--and this fund will cover transportation, the largest stumbling block to our prospective clients. A school visit can serve as few as 25 or as many as 300. Do the math on that--with 200 visits, this fund will make a huge impact!
Each student gets a custom pack of recycled materials, assembled with 12,000 volunteer hours, to build their project. Then they get to stuff a bag on the 26' bus, the ScrapMobile, and learn about recycling. The bus is packed with bins of 23 unusual "things" interesting to kids that require no scissors or glue.
Thank you for considering Arts & Scraps for support. We are a small organization that links corporations, individuals, organizations and education many people to serve 275,000 children a year with 28 tons of recycled materials.
