After returning from a 9 day trip to a refugee camp of primarily Syrians in northern Greece in April 2016, where we brought arts therapy interventions to over 75 children and families, we want to return with a bigger team and more art therapy supplies and interventions to provide more relief. There would also be training for local volunteers to sustain the interventions after our departure. Psychoeducating refugee families on trauma symptoms and empowering with culturally compatible tools to address symptoms is a primary goal. Funds are needed for materials to set up a system to execute the interventions in the camp, arts materials, transportation fees, translator support and associated costs to make this successful. There is a desperate need for our services there and many wish us to return to help them survive mentally this awful trauma.
