MORE ABOUT ARTS EDVENTURE:
In celebration of New Jersey’s 350th Anniversary in 2014, Young Audiences is creating an event that will capture the rich history and achievements of our state. This outdoor festival of performances, historic activities and hands-on art-making will focus on the themes of innovation, diversity, and liberty. The event is designed as a field trip destination for elementary students from grades two to five, their teachers and their chaperones. The event will take place at two locations - Kipps Castle in Verona on May 28 and 29 and The New Jersey State Museum in Trenton on June 4 and 5.
The festival will center around presentations on three stages; each stage representing one of the festival’s themes: liberty, innovation and diversity. Between performances, students have a chance to dance, sing, and interact with historical figures in the cultural village. Highlights will include the state’s role in the revolutionary war, significant innovators like Thomas Edison and scientists like Albert Einstein, and New Jersey’s rich cultural diversity illustrated by a variety of artists. The festival will bring to life events and people that have shaped the state’s glorious 350 years.
ARTS EDVENTURE is being developed in collaboration with Carol Cronheim, Assistant Secretary of State for New Jersey, The New Jersey State Museum, New Jersey 350, and the New Jersey Historical Commission.
